A Computer network that physically two or more computers within a geographically limited area(generally one building or a groups of building's). the linked computers are called workstations. peer-to-peer LANs enable the linked computers to share expensive peripherals such as a laser printer ; client/server network use a LAN server to make resources (such as databases and applications) available to workstation users. local area network have a characteristic topology(such as bus, ring or start) and implement one or more networking protocols(such as apple talk, ethernet, or TCP/IP).
